Baroness Renée Franchon’s portrait was the starting point for this sculpture, which evolved into an abstracted depiction of a muse, the personification of artistic inspiration since antiquity. The artist depicted his friend without envisioning any structure to keep the sculpture upright. As a result, it turns whatever it rests upon into a base.
